Criccieth 12 Mile Group ( or there about)
Saturday 10th April
Once I got the 5 and 8 mile groups safely to the station I turned my attention to the 12-ish mile group. What a good looking lot they are.
We followed the Llyn Peninsular Costal path out of Criccieth. This travelled alongside the railway in the direction of Porthmadog. It wasn’t long before footpaths and maps didn’t tally. As the sun was shining none of the group moaned about the assault of the railway gates (locked) in either direction. After giving up all hope of finding a path we came across an alternative. This put us on the right track but not for long. We went across country to a very comfortable grassy knoll to have lunch and to ponder our predicament. Food helped us and before long we were on the right route to Penmorfa, Tremadog and we arrived in good spirits at Porthmadog at 14.00 hours. It was around 11 miles.

The plan was to return by bus however some did not want to fork out on bus fare so we walked back!!!!
The walk, the sun, the scenery, and the company continued to be perfect with the exception of one caravan park owner who took umbrage at us using the public footpath on her caravan site. The 12 miles turn out to be 16 goods miles and we arrived back at 17.30 ready for the excellent evening meal.
Sunday 11th April
A lazy start on Sunday, again we were the last group to leave. From the 10.50 bus to Pwllheli we passed the 5 mile group well into their walk
We followed the Llyn Costal path which took us along the long sweeping sands. The group had no time for frivolity. We had no problem locating the footpath hidden in the sand dunes due to me taking a well located comfort stop.
The path led us to a desirable holiday home and whilst Kathy had a viewing we had lunch looking along the coast line. At Pwllheli holiday camp we headed in land to follow a very pleasant path which after a few miles led into Lanystumdwy.
We were devastated to find we were the last of the Wigan and District ramblers to visit. We went across the fields and down by the river to the coast to follow the path back into Criccieth. This had been a beautiful 12 miles walk but unfortunately we never got displaced. We arrived back in time for a beer or an ice cream, (I let them have the choice). Wonderful day. I didn’t lose my temper once!!!!!!!!
