For this year's Spring Weekend Holiday we headed for Criccieth. Most of us stayed in the Lion Hotel plus a few in local B & B's.
On Saturday morning both the 8 mile and 5 mile groups set off to catch the 9.50 am train to Porthmadog.
On the train the ticket collector decided that he did not have time to collect all our fares and said that we could pay on the return trip. Little did he know that the 8 milers would be walking back!
The 5 mile group of 13 followed the "Picture post card" walk to the harbour and the Information centre, where we enjoyed the beautiful weather and the scenery for half an hour.

We followed the Llyn Coastal path past Borth-y-Gest and some beautiful sandy bays. Once or twice we chose the wrong path and as we climbed back up from the beach Allan and the 8 mile group passed us. Soon we again chose the wrong way and reached a caravan site and decided to stop for lunch and enjoy the fantastic views. Down below we could see the golf course and the 8 mile group. We gave them a wave and then went down to follow them. At the golf club we turned and came back to the caravan site. Eventually we found the path through the caravans and back down to Borth-y-Gest and back to Porthmadog. We decided to catch the 2.50 pm train and on our way to the station we met some of the 12 mile group. We thought that they had finished early but Peter decided differently!   On the train the collector asked how many had not yet paid. 11 of us put up our hands but he charged for only 9, at Group price single, not return. A very cheap day out!

And then Margaret won the Grand National Sweep...... Don’t Push It   !!!

On Sunday Frank led a group of 11 on a 5 mile walk to Llanystumdwy, the birth place of David Lloyd George (He knew my father). We followed a quiet country road to the Lloyd George memorial and museum (Father knew Lloyd George). A kind local lady offered to take a Group photo and as we walked round the village the 12 milers passed us on the bus on their way to Pwllheli.

We walked alongside the banks of the beautiful river Afon Dwyfor and found a bench for a short break before we left the village and walked down to the coast for lunch. The weather was again gorgeous as we followed the coastal path and along the shingle beach towards Criccieth Castle and the ice cream shop

Once again we had enjoyed a fabulous weekend, with unbelievable weather. We thanked John for all his hard work and agreed that it would be difficult to find a place next year to match the Lion Hotel and Criccieth
